What On Earth Is Feng Shui?
What
Is A Kua Number? How Do I Calculate it?
According to Feng Shui principles, every person
has different energy requirements. In the Classic School of
Feng Shui, there is something called the Flying Stars which
states the two groups of energy are separated into a West group
and an East group. You would fall into either one of the categories.
The issue with knowing whether you fall into the West group
or East group is determining your Kua number. The Kua
number of calculated based on your gender as well as your complete
date of birth and even the time zone where you were born. You
can either find a Chinese Kua calculator on a variety of websites
online or you can calculate the number yourself. Here is the
process if you wish to do it on your own:
1.
Using your birth year, add the last two digits together. (Most Feng Shui practitioners say that you need to use your
Chinese lunar birth year. Now keep in mind that with the Chinese
lunar year, the New Year starts on a different day each time.
So if your birth month falls between March and December, you
can just use your birth year to calculate. However, if you
call outside of that, you must consult a real Chinese lunar
calendar.)
2.
If the result of adding the last two digits of the year
together is more than ten, add the two digits together to come
up with a single number.
3.
From there, males should take away ten while females should
add five. When your answer is zero, use nine. This answer is
your Kua number.
By calculating your Kua number, you can determine whether
you fall in the East or West group. You will belong to the
West group if your number is 2, 6, 7, or 8. The East group
would fall on 1, 3, 4, or 9. With your Kua number, you can
find out the best way to face in your work space, while you
are sleeping or even your main entry way so that you will reap
the benefits of a positive flow of energy.
If you have a Kua number that falls within the East group,
you will find that the best four directions for you are North,
East, South and Southeast. Anytime you have to face something,
these are the best directions for optimal energy flow and balance.
What happens though when each person in your home has a different
Kua number and opposing group? The answer is that there are
ways to keep things on an even keel.
Everyone has several directions in which they draw on to have
a harmonious flow of energy. Therefore, you have to find a
direction which best benefits the majority of people in the
home. In this instance, you should not focus solely on everyone’s
Kua number but also on the reading go the Ba-Gua as well as
the Feng Shui compass. No one tool is the end all to end all
in Feng Shui; rather, you must use the positives from all of
these tools in order to create a pleasing space for everyone
in the home.
Before referring to your Kua number or any other tool in the
Feng Shui arsenal, there are a few things you can do first.
Tackling clutter is the number one priority before employing
any tools to find the best directions and auspicious areas
in your home. Clutter is negative energy and once it is cleaned
up, you just might find that you don’t have to compromise on
other things after all. The lesson within this lesson is that
do not focus all your energies on any one Feng Shui tool like
your Kua number.
